Once we receive your sample at our Nairobi lab, the sequencing and clinical analysis process takes 2 to 3 weeks. You (or your doctor) will receive an email and SMS notification the moment your report is ready.

No. Our MyDNAid-PGx (Pharmacogenomics) test is direct-to-consumer and requires no referral. However, our MyDNAid-Clin (Clinical) and MyDNAid-Gmx (Whole Genome) tests are highly complex and require a formal doctor's referral and a session with an independent genetic counselor prior to sample collection.

For MyDNAid-PGx, we use a simple, painless cheek swab. For MyDNAid-Clin and MyDNAid-Gmx, a certified phlebotomist will draw a small blood sample into specialized EDTA tubes. You can choose to have a PGx sampling kit shipped to your physical address, or you can visit our lab in Nairobi on Tuesdays or Thursdays (9:30 AM to 5:30 PM) to provide your sample in person.

You do. NextGen Molecular Lab gives you ultimate custody of your data. We are fully compliant with the Kenya Data Protection Act (KDPA). Your genomic data is stored securely on our local, on-premise encrypted servers (never on the public cloud), and we will never share or sell your identifiable information to third parties.

During registration, you choose your preference. You can grant us 'Broad' or 'Specific' consent to use your anonymized sample for future ethically approved research, or you can explicitly instruct us to destroy the physical sample immediately after your initial sequencing is complete.

It depends on the test you select:

• MyDNAid-PGx: You will receive a comprehensive digital report sent directly to your provided email, along with your physical, credit-card-sized MyDNAid wallet card containing your encrypted data.

• MyDNAid-Clin & MyDNAid-Gmx: Because these are advanced clinical tests, the comprehensive genomic report is sent directly to your requesting medical doctor to guide your treatment. (Note: Physical encrypted cards for Clin and Gmx are currently in development and will be available in the future).

Yes! When you sequence for PGx, your raw genomic data is securely stored in our system. If you later decide you want the full Clinical (Clin) or Whole Genome (Gmx) analysis, we do not need a new physical sample. We simply re-analyze your existing stored data in our system for a flat administrative fee of $100.

No hidden fees. The $1,800 covers your initial sequencing, physical wallet card (for PGx), and clinical reporting. Starting from Year 2, an optional secure data custody and card-decryption maintenance fee of $50/year applies to keep your genomic data safely stored in our local encrypted vault, updated with new scientific insights, and to maintain your physical card decryption services.
